Victor Nelson and Bryan Whitaker are two guys who love the outdoors and love fishing and yet something that is a hobby to most people is a business to these two. Nelson and Whitaker are the proprietors of www.RoundRocks.com, a site that is dedicated to fly fishing equipment and tools. To boot, the duo came upon the venture with a bit of happenstance.

Logan, UT (PRWEB) August 13, 2008 — "Bryan and I both have a passion for fly fishing," explains Victor Nelson, "and had the opportunity to purchase a fly fishing business that had gone out of business We decided to re-open the business and take it in a new direction."

That was a little over three years ago. Since then, Nelson and Whitaker have taken their passion for the great outdoors by launching RoundRocks online, as well as its sister blog, www.FlyRodReviewBlog.com.

"We certainly want to expand our internet presence and are adding more guiding and instructional services," says Nelson. "We want to provide information that goes beyond just product information – fishing tips, techniques and fishing reports. We also want to provide some skill development information as well, especially for young anglers and people new to the sport."

"The site has also attracted a variety of friendly customers, thanks in part to the duo’s congenial personalities. "We’ve got the best customers in the world," says Whitaker. "Customers from nearly all 50 states have been in our retail shop, as well as customers from 12 other countries.

"I told a new employee that I like to put in a personal note with every order I fill," adds Nelson, "just to establish that we’re real people and that our customers can contact us with questions. Customer service is very important to us."

With a positive attitude, it’s also no wonder that www.RoundRocks.com also donates to numerous local non-profits, supports a host of wildlife protection groups and river protection efforts and has helped spearhead a local Womens’ Fly Fishing Club.

Nelson does not tip toe around the fact that while their business is a focal point, that the preservation and improvement of the environment is a paramount concern.***

Lovina learns to fish

With all the nearby lakes here in Michigan, a lot of

fishing is being done by people around here during this

nice stretch of weather.

We have enjoyed quite a few meals of fresh fish and have

more in the freezer. I enjoyed my first time out fishing

on the lake. My husband Joe took me one evening on his

boat. At first, I was a little nervous, but I finally

got the feel of the boat. It wasn’t long before we found

a good place to fish. Joe helped me bait my hook after

teaching me how to cast a line. We weren’t fishing very

long when I caught my first fish. It was a bluegill.

Later I almost had a big bass but it got away before I

could pull it into the boat. It was exciting enough,

though, to make me want to go again. It was also very

relaxing and peaceful out on the water.

Joe told me I did a good job of casting. I think he was

a little afraid at first that the worm on my hook would

land in his hair. We came home, and I helped clean fish

for the first time. We then went over to Jacob and

Emma’s house to meet up with our children. My sisters

Verena and Susan had taken the children with them to

Jacob’s house earlier. We all planned to "camp out"

there for the night. **

Bait fishing bonanza at weir

The Macquarie River continues to yield Yellowbelly and

Cod with winter well and truly knocking on the door.

Anglers at the South Dubbo weir had a bait fishing

bonanza with cricket score catches of Yellowbellys

between 35cm to 40cm being reported.

Lightly weighted shrimp caught and frozen during the

warmer months were floated down the wash through the

white water and took Yella’s consistently for bait

fishermen, with one angler banking and releasing a 50cm

brute.

The South Dubbo weir again had plenty of cameras out and

working overtime, with the majority of the fish going

back to fight again another day.

Windmere Dam:

A few weeks back you might remember reading in Dubbo

Catches about a 17 pound Yellowbelly taken at Windemere

Dam.
We have tracked down the angler, who happens to be local

fisherman Rod Tilling.
This “fish of a lifetime” was taken on a yabby, fished

off the edge of a weed bed. **

Fishing Bait Recipes Including ’Catfish’!

Before going fishing, it is imperative that you

antidepressants some fishing bait with you to get those

fishes biting. It is not that you have to go to some

store to buy fishing bikini you can easily make fishing

bait at home. For fishing bait recipes and recipes for

catfish bait, all you have to do is to surf the

Internet. You will be overwhelmed by the number of

fishing bait recipes there are on the Internet.

This is a homemade fishing bait recipe that not only

catches catfish but also all other types of fish. All

you need is cups of raisins, parmesan cheese, brown

sugar and corn syrup. Along with it, cup of apple cider

vinegar and 1 tsp. garlic powder. You have to first

grind the raisins and then take the parmesan cheese, and

add apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, brown sugar and

corn syrup. This mixture has to be brought to a slight

boil. You then cool it to add raisins and vinegar. This

can then be thickened using either flour or corn meal

till the desired thickness is achieved.***

About Firehole Ranch:

The Firehole Ranch is a rare place in today’s fast-paced world. It seems to exist to teach a lesson about life, fly fishing and what is truly important. This is what Lynda Caine, owner, saw when in 1999 she saved the historic "Watkins Creek Ranch" from being subdivided into 20-acre ranchettes. Over the years, spending summers on the lake and eventually purchasing her own nearby land, Lynda developed a love for this special place. She realized it must be preserved to continue to pass on its lesson to future generations. Caine takes great satisfaction in seeing her guests become centered again as they reconnect with themselves and the natural world around them. With a keen understanding of the symbiotic relationship of the ranch and the land around it, Caine practices good stewardship and sustainable practices. Her efforts to preserve the place, the structures, and the experience have resulted in the Firehole Ranch being listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Blitzcreek Pro Fishing Brings Angler and Young Angler Kids Fishing Tournament to Lindsay

Tournament allows children to compete in a professional style, televised, fishing tournament just for them.

LINDSAY, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – May 7, 2008) – North America’s most popular televised kids fishing tournament series, Angler and Young Angler, is coming to Lindsay, Ontario on May 25, 2008. "Finally a fishing tournament for kids which allows them to experience being the pros in the boat," says Site Coordinator and Tournament Director, Chris Hockley. "Blitzcreek Pro Fishing, DT Powersports and a number of local sponsors have teamed up to bring an Angler & Young Angler fishing tournament to southern Ontario for the first time ever!"

Media are invited to attend the tournament and a boat will be running from 10am – 1pm on the day of the event to allow for good photo opportunities and to experience the tournament first hand.

A limited field of 40 teams, consisting of one adult with two kids ages 17 or under, will gather at Rivera Park in Lindsay, Ontario on Sturgeon Lake to compete for an amazing array of prizes supplied by both national corporate sponsors and local businesses. No one will go home empty-handed. However, the first first-place team will not only walk away with bragging rights and a trophy, but they will be the proud new owner’s of a Lund boat, motor and trailer package! In addition to this, they will qualify for the national championship that takes place in August on world famous Lake of the Woods, Ontario. This tournament is filmed by In-Fisherman and aired internationally. Last years winners of the championship event enjoyed a fully expense paid trip to Totem Resorts for the family. A prize valued at more than $25,000! This year’s prize has yet to be announced but is of very similar value.

There are no cash prizes in this unique tournament. Event expenses are covered by each team’s $150 entry fee. Any money made at the event will be donated to Chris Hockley’s Fish for the Wish program that raises money for The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada through fishing.

This first of a kind tournament for southern Ontario is to be filmed by the television show Angler and Hunter. Show host, Cam Brownson, and fishing celebrities including Dave Mercer will also be involved in the event. Not only will the kids have a chance to compete in professional style tournament they will also have the opportunity to meet these celebrities and be on local and national television right across Canada!

Known for its plentiful number of big fish, Sturgeon Lake is surely the perfect venue for this event. Three walleye are the target catch for each team. The team with the most amount of weight for these three fish will win and qualify for the national championship. All of the tournament caught fish will later be released via the Shimano live release boat.

The event will begin Saturday evening with a rules meeting and how-to fishing seminar presented by Lindsay native, Professional Walleye Tour competitor and Canadian National Pro Team member – Sheldon Hatch. The tournament day will start with an early morning breakfast at the launch, followed by the day fishing and will finally wrap up with a barbeque and awards ceremony.

The Angler & Young Angler Walleye Championship began in 1998 when Tournament Founder, Andrew Klopak decided he wanted to fish in a competitive style tournament on opening day with his son. Because there were no tournaments that catered to adult and young anglers – he created his own.

The main objective is to introduce and educate young anglers to competitive sport fishing in a fun environment surrounded by family and friends while creating memories that will last a lifetime. Each team in the tournaments consists of one angler and two young anglers, 17 and under.

Each event includes official weigh-in, prizes, awards and a barbeque to follow a hard day’s fishing. The winner of each regional event qualifies for the opportunity to participate in the National Championship. The Sturgeon Lake event is just one of the qualifiers in Ontario.

In fact, the successes of the original Manitoba tournament lead to the expansion into other provinces and now into the United States. The Angler & Young Angler fishing tournaments continue to grow with ten regional events this year, as well as an international championship held in late August on beautiful Lake of the Woods, Kenora, Ontario. In order to expand the exposure youth fishing, a complete television special is produced each year, featuring the regional events, as well as the championship.

Please join us for this event! Remember there are 40 teams only. For more information or registration forms, please visit the Angler & Young Angler website at www.anglerandyoungangler.com or click on the AYA logo at the top of Hockley’s own website www.blitzcreek.com to bring you directly to the registration forms for this specific event. We are also currently looking for sponsors to donate prizes to the event for the children.

To sponsor the event by donate prizes for the tournament please contact Chris Hockley.
